2018 Employment Opportunities

We are currently accepting applications for our 2018 season.  Jobs are available in our Garden Centre, Wedding venue, and Bed and Breakfast. Employees could work in all three areas with work being scheduled accordingly.  Employees at SpringBreak must be available to work weekends.

Positions available:

1.      Garden Centre Worker – Work commences mid-March or early April and ends June 30th. Duties include transplanting seedlings and cuttings, watering and plant care, and customer service.  Full and part-time positions are available.   Related experience is preferred but we are happy to train.


·        A love for flowers and plants and an interest in gardening;

·        Physically fit; able to work long days on your feet, must be able to lift 30 pounds / 14 kilograms;

·        Must work well with others, bringing strong team skills;

·        Basic math related to retail payment transactions; and 

·        Excellent interpersonal skills in customer service.


2.      Wedding Event Coordinator – Work commences mid-June and ends Sept 30th.  The wedding coordinator ensures the facilities are set-up as per the brides/grooms instructions and oversees the work of the set-up crew.  Work is Friday evenings (1 – 2 hours), full day Saturdays, and possibly long weekend Sundays.   


·        Excellent organization skills, must be able to multi-task;

·        Strong skills in attention to details;

·        Excellent interpersonal relationship skills – the Wedding Coordinator represents the Flower Farm and our brand… he/she is a voice of reason,  confident,  resourceful, solutions oriented, and has a calming influence; 

·        Excellent team work skills and the ability to lead and direct others.

3.      Wedding Crew – Work commences mid-June and ends Sept 30th. Duties are 'soup to nuts' and include setting up tables and chairs, setting guest tables, setting out wedding décor, trimming floral baskets, sweeping floors and yes, even cleaning bathrooms on occasion. Work is on Saturdays and possibly long week-end Sundays.  Hours of work are generally 10 am to approximately 4 pm.  


·        Ability to hustle – work is at a fast pace;

·        Strong team work skills; and

·        Ability to take direction and execute.  


4.      B&B Coordinator – Work is year round on a part-time, as needed basis.  During our busy wedding season (mid-June to end of September), work is every weekend with some occasional weekday requirements.   Work usually starts at 7:00 a.m. and goes to 1 or 2 p.m.  Duties include, preparing and serving breakfast and overseeing the cleaning at the B&B.  The flower farm breakfast menu is set, however an experienced and talented cook would be welcome to contribute changes / additions to the menu if they wish.

Qualifications required:

·        Loves to cook and is pretty good at it;

·        Clean and neat in appearance, excellent personal hygiene;

·        Practices proper food safety and handling and has a solid understanding of the principles (guidance and training will be provided);

·        Critical eye for seeing what is out of place and dealing with it; and

·        Excellent interpersonal skills – interacts and engages with guests.


5.      Bar Manager, Weddings – Work commences mid-June and ends Sept 30th. Work is on Saturdays and long-weekend Sundays, late afternoon through to approx. 1:00 or 2:00 a.m.   Besides tending bar during the wedding reception and dance, the Bar Manager also ensures the evening goes off without a hitch…. And if a hitch is presented, has the ability to seamlessly troubleshoot and create a solution. The evening Manager is the face of SpringBreak and has excellent guest relations skills.

Qualifications required:

·        Excellent interpersonal and communication skills

·        Ability to be firm and remain very respectful  

·        ProServe certification

·        Good physical condition; able to carry 30 lb cases of alcohol and buckets of ice, long hours on feet

·        Clean and neat in appearance, excellent personal hygiene

·        Ability to lead and direct others


6.      Bartenders, Weddings and Special events –  Work commences mid-June through to end of September.  Duties include bar set-up and clean-up at the end of the event.  Serving poured drinks, beer and wine (no blended drinks).  Other duties include bussing tables (removing drink cups and cans) throughout the evening, may involving setting out the mid-night snack if required.

Qualifications required: 

·        Excellent interpersonal and communication skills

·        ProServe certification

·        Good physical condition; able to carry  30 lb cases of alcohol and buckets of ice, long hours on feet

·        Clean and next in appearance, excellent personal hygiene


SpringBreak pays well with a minimum starting wage of $15/hour. Wages will increase based on experience and satisfactory work performance.
