Positions available:

1.Greenhouse Operation Manager - Job type: Full time from February to October

We are currently looking for a Greenhouse Operation Manager to join our team and grow in this unique position.

The ideal candidate will have the following skills:

  • Lead the team, prioritizing safety and productivity and actively engage in daily operations of a greenhouse.

  • Has good communication and organization skills in working with customers, suppliers and staff.

  • Have excellent verbal and written communication skills.

  • Train and empower employees to boost profitability.

  • Horticulture degree or background and experience in the industry.

  • Pesticide applicators license is an asset.

  • Manage inventories efficiently.

  • Assure product quality exceeding customer expectations.

  • Provide and analyze reports related to plant operations.

  • Handle miscellaneous duties and projects as needed.

Responsibilities:

Here are some of the main activities the position may involve:

  • Establish the environmental conditions required to grow trees, shrubs, flowers and plants, and design planting and care schedules accordingly

  • Determine type and quantity of stock to grow

  • Supervise staff in planting, transplanting, feeding and spraying stock

  • Identify and control insect, disease and weed problems

  • Develop marketing plans

  • Provide information to customers on gardening and on the care of trees, shrubs, flowers, plants and lawns

  • Order materials such as fertilizer, garden and lawn care equipment, and other nursery and greenhouse related accessories

  • Hire and manage staff, oversee training and set work schedules

Qualifications

Horticulture and/or Management

2-3 years experience with greenhouse production and management

The ability to work with minimal direct supervision

A valid driver’s license

2. Greenhouse Employees - Part & Full Time Greenhouse Staff - Start date March 1st to end date August 31st

Looking to work with plants and be part of a great team? SpringBreak Flower Farm is looking for hardworking, reliable individuals to join us at our greenhouse!

Location: Hillcrest, Ab

Position: Greenhouse Labor

Schedule: Full-time/part-time(seasonal)

What You’ll Do:

-Plant, water, and care for plants

-Deliver excellent customer service in a teamwork environment 

-Monitor plant health and assist with pest control

-Help with general greenhouse maintenance

-Work in a fast-paced environment and handle physically demanding tasks

What We’re Looking For:

  1. Reliable and hardworking individuals

  2. Able to lift up to [30lbs] and work on your feet

  3. Experience in greenhouse or plant care is a plus, but not required

  4. Passion for plants and the outdoors

3. Wedding Crew – Work commences mid-June to mid Sept. Duties include setting up tables and chairs, setting guest tables, setting out wedding décor, trimming floral baskets, sweeping floors and cleaning bathrooms. Dress in layers, take breaks regularly from the heat, stay hydrated. Work is on Saturdays and Sundays.  Hours of work are generally 10 am to approximately 4 pm.  

 Qualifications:

  • Consistent and reliable;

  • Strong team work ethic; and

  • Ability to take direction as well as to initiate.  

3. Bartenders, Weddings and Special events –  Work commences mid-June through to mid- September.  Duties include bar set-up and clean-up at the end of the event.  Serving poured drinks, beer and wine (no blended drinks).  Other duties include bussing tables (removing drink cups and cans) throughout the evening, may involving setting out the mid-night snack if required.

Qualifications required: 

  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills

  • ProServe certification

  • Good physical condition; able to carry  30 lb cases of alcohol and buckets of ice, long hours on feet

  • Clean, well dressed (wedding apparel- usually black pants/skirt/dress), excellent personal hygiene
